LEARNING COMMUNITIES & COHORTS
No need to study alone in your dorm or secluded in the library. During your first year at the U you can be part of a cohort. A group of students working through the same curriculum. Your academic crew. You can also study in a learning community. Students with the same academic interests taking courses and participating in extracurricular activities together.
LEAP
At the heart of LEAP is a two-semester seminar, open to any student, in which students stay with the same classmates and faculty member throughout. Satisfies general education requirements.
BLOCK U
BlockU is a two-semester set schedule of selected courses that explore a set of contemporary questions that are important regardless of major or career track. Two semesters of a BlockU program will cover all general education Intellectual Explorations requirements.
HONORS
Honors College provides intellectually curious, motivated students the best of two worlds—an intimate liberal arts and sciences education, including rigorous coursework and living-learning cohorts, within a world class research university that offers opportunities for independent research and working closely with top researchers and scholars.
DIVERSITY SCHOLARS
The Diversity Scholars Program is a retention program designed to support diverse students during their first year and is implemented as a cohort model that includes traditional admitted students, sponsored students, and scholarship students.
NEW UNIVERSITY SCHOLARS
New University Scholars is a group of students with leadership aspirations who take BlockU programs together, meet monthly to hear lectures from faculty, and advance their leadership skills by collaborating on community and campus projects.
MUSE SCHOLARS
If you are interested in taking your MUSE experience to the next level, consider joining our MUSE Scholars program! This lively community of students is united by a dedication to learning and to the intellectual and cultural exchange at the heart of the college experience.
FIRST GEN SCHOLARS
First Gen Scholars exists to create a supportive community where students engage in their communities with their ideas and passions through designing and directing their own projects, and building their leadership and programming skills with the freedom to dream big and "fail forward.”
BUSINESS SCHOLARS
Business Scholars is a program that provides students with engaged learning opportunities and a sense of community within the David Eccles School of Business.

As a Humanities Scholar, you will journey through your first year at the University with a cohort of peers, exploring the range of opportunities available within the humanities. You will experience each discipline’s unique approach to addressing today’s most pressing issues while connecting ideas and applying classroom learning to community challenges.
